Week 60: New Comp!

Hey everyone! Well, to sum it all up: I have a new companion. We are getting along super well. And we are getting to work! Things are going really good, I can't complain at all.

Here's a quick run through of this week:
Monday we had our Pday which was our last full day with Elder Vaughn. We had a good time throughout the day and ended up going on a late night road trip to retrieve a car from Kirtland. We ended up going to sleep at like 12:45, so that was pretty hype.
Tuesday we had to leave for Columbus at 6AM to make our MLC meeting at 10AM where I would be getting my new companion, Elder Stirling. We had a pretty awesome day, most of it was driving, but it's all good.
Wednesday we had District Council in the morning and it went really good. After that we went and dropped off Christmas gifts to some people we're teaching which was fun. After that we contacted a whole bunch of people and had a good ole time.
Thursday we went on yet another road trip, this time to Hiram to pick up a couple packages. It started snowing which made things really fun. At the end of the day we spent a couple hours with a member playing card games. It was a lot of fun!
Friday was super awesome! We woke up and opened our gifts and ate too much candy. After that we had a super awesome miracle shoveling snow! For the rest of the day we just texted people Merry Christmas and then had a white elephant gift exchange with the District.
Saturday we did some service at like 7AM with a member outside. It. Was. Cold. Very cold. It'll buff though! After that we had our weekly planning session and called a bunch of people to set up lessons.
Sunday we had church over zoom in the morning which is always a blast. After that we had a couple really awesome lessons with some members. Overall, this was a pretty sweet week!

Miracle of the week:
On Christmas we decided to go and clear snow off of everyone's cars in the parking lot. When we got done a dude came down and asked which apartment we lived in because he wanted to make us cookies for clearing off the cars. It was super sweet!

Funny moment of the week:
Every night I keep putting orange peels in Elder Sahagun's pillow and we told him about it and he pulled a bunch of old, dry, crusty orange peels out of his pillow. We all had a pretty good laugh over it.

Week 59: Killing off this Trio?

Hey everyone! This has been an exciting week to say the very least. We are in another trio with one of the Elders that was in Ashtabula, Elder Durfey, because his companion went home. Not only will Elder Vaughn be going home for school, but Elder Durfey will also be leaving. I am going to be killing off 2 companions at the same time. They will both be flying out tomorrow (Tuesday). Kinda depressing, but what can you do?

Here's a quick run through of the week:
Monday we had a district activity with everyone and it was pretty exciting. But then things got real when Elder Vaughn got a phone call that said he can go home before Christmas if he wants. So that has been heavy on his mind and throughout the week.
Tuesday we went on a training visit with the Social Media Specialists and had a good time. We did a lot of contacting and set up a bunch of lessons.
Wednesday we did some service in the morning for a member which was super awesome. We talked with him for a while and he showed us his gun collection. More will be mentioned in the funny moment of the week. Afterwards, we went on a training visit with the Elders in Warren. We had a good time talking with members and setting up more lessons during the week. This was the day that Elder Vaughn got the confirmation that he needed to go home from the spirit. Sad times.
Thursday we had our zone conference which was an absolute blast! We went up to Kirtland and we listened to a lot of songs and read Luke 2. At the end we made gingerbread houses and went back to Y-Town and we took Elder Durfey with us because his companion was going home the next day.
Friday we did service at Saint Vincent de Paul which is always an absolute blast. After that we went over to the church and had a meeting with the zone and our stake president. We read some scriptures about Christ's birth and talked about how we can share this with others. After that we did a bunch of contacting and called it a day!
Saturday we had our weekly planning session which is... fun! After that we did a lot of work on Facebook and making content for the pages. At the end of the day we did song practice with the district because we will be caroling tomorrow!
Sunday we had an exciting morning with zoom church and we had a crazy miracle! After that I ended up going to a lesson with a recent convert named Howard. Howard is 80% blind and we just read the scriptures with him and discuss what we read. It's always a lot of fun! In going to this lesson I missed out on caroling which is probably the greatest miracle! Afterwards we had some lessons and called it a day.

Miracle of the week:
On Sunday a lady came to the church while we were there. Apparently she was taught in the past and she didn't want to be taught anymore. Now she's changed her mind and wants to get baptized. The sisters are going to teach her, but it's still awesome that she came to the church while we all were there!

Funny moment of the week:
So that member told us how he got into guns because a gun shop owner roasted him for not knowing guns. He then proceeded to tell this guy to f-himself and got super into modifying and building guns. He shared a lot of stories and it was super!

Week 58: Transfer Time, Baby!

Hey everyone! We just had our transfers and Elder Vaughn and I are staying together for another transfer! We are both pretty pumped because there are a lot of things that we are wanting to get done this transfer in our Zone. It's just nonstop good times here in the great OCM!

Here's a quick run through of this week:
Wednesday we had our P Day and a sweet church tour with a couple people we're teaching. After the tour we went and got some BBQ with some elders in our Zone for one last hurrah before Elder Davis went home. After that was done we did a lot of planning for the Zone focus to try and figure out what to do for it. Also we did the 1 chip challenge. It was honestly pretty fun, watch the video, it's dank!
Thursday was transfers and it went pretty smoothly. We got everyone in and out quickly and talked with President for a little bit while we were there. At the end of the day we did some contacting and called it good.
Friday we had our weekly pain (weekly planning) session and that was as fun as it could possibly be. Other than that we had a couple sweet lessons and reached out to a ton of people.
Saturday was a fairly average day. We had song practice again which is always a fun time. After that we had a ton of lessons cancel, but we made the most of the time with Facebook work.
Sunday was a LONG day for some odd reason. Oh well! But overall it was pretty sweet. We had a couple meetings and finalized the Zone focus and it's looking to be pretty dope!

Miracle of the week:
On Wednesday when we had the church tour, one of the people there named Lily said that she felt the spirit super strongly in the church. She said it felt more complete than any other church she's been to. She said that she will want to be baptized at some point, so we will try to set a date with her in the future!

Funny moment of the week:
The funniest part of the week was Sunday. It went by so slowly because for some odd reason my brain kept telling me that it was fast Sunday even though it wasn't. So I was just exhausted the entire day for no reason. Oh well I guess.

Elder Bohn

Week 57: Trio Time, Baby!

Hey everyone! This has been a fairly crazy week for the most part. We said goodbye to Elder Magleby on Monday and we were in a trio with his trainee Elder Sahagun. So that officially makes us Zone, District, Trainer, Spanish, YSA, Leaders. If that isn't a power play, I don't know what is!

Here's a quick run through of this week:
Monday we made a road trip down to Columbus because Elder Magleby got reassigned back to Mexico. We were pumped for him but sad to see him leave. He's off to greener pastures now, Youngstown will never be the same without him.
Tuesday we had training visits with the Lisbon Elders which was sweet! We went and shoveled snow and called a bunch of people. We also started shooting a super dope video that we are working on for light the world.
Wednesday we had our training visit with the APs which was a blast. With Elder Magleby gone I planned District Council and it went pretty good! I spent the day with Elder Farnworth and we got a lot of work done. We had a rather interesting lesson with a guy who wanted to do the feet washing ceremony. We kindly turned it down and talked about its sacredness. But overall we had an awesome day!
Thursday we had the Warren Elders over for training visits. I was with Elder Hibbard and Sahagun for the day. We pretty much had all of our lessons cancel, but it's all good. We just improvised and found things to do.
Friday we went on yet another training visit. This time we went with the Rootstown Elders and I was with Elder Bennett. We had a pretty sweet day. We made some cookies, had to evacuate the building because someone (not us) set off the fire alarm, and we had some sweet lessons.
Saturday was a very dreadful day. To make a long story short, we ate the spaghetti from Elf as a punishment for the zone focus. It was gross. But we carried on with our day despite the pain. We did a lot of studying and had a couple lessons, but that was pretty much it.
Sunday we had a bunch of lessons throughout the day which was sweet, and also a lot of lessons that cancelled. It was just another slow fast Sunday other than that
Monday we had to go to a song practice. Sister Horgesheimer wants a couple people in the Zone to sing a song for Christmas zone conference and we have to meet together to practice. After that we literally had all of our lessons cancel which was sad times. We just did a bunch of Facebook work to make up the time. It was a pretty slow day.
Tuesday we had a couple meetings and lots of studying to do throughout the day. We had a couple lessons at the end of the day and went to Denny's for dinner with the Warren elders while waiting for the transfer info to come out. When it came I found out I'm staying with Elder Vaughn so I'm pumped!

Miracle of the week:
The miracle of the week has to be getting to stay with Elder Vaughn. We have a lot of big plans together and a lot of work to accomplish!

Funny Moment of the week:
The funniest moment of the week pretty much has to be having nonstop good times with Elder Sahagun for the entire week! He's a stud and we just had an absolute party all week long!

Love,
Elder Bohn

Week 56: KFC Surprises

Hey everyone! And that wraps up yet another week up in the blessed land of Y-Town. We were super busy pretty much all throughout the week, so I can't complain! Happy late Thanksgiving everybody!

Here's a quick run through of the week:
Monday was another fairly average P day. We had a district activity which was fun. We played soccer, basketball, and volleyball so it was a blast.
Tuesday we went on training visits with the Elders in Warren. I was with Elder Hammond for the day so we had a party! We did service at a place that gives out free meals and that day they were literally just handing out $5 fill up boxes from KFC. More on this will be mentioned in funny moment of the week. At the end of the day we called a whole bunch of people and set up a bunch of lessons.
Wednesday we had District Council in the morning which is always a hoot. After that was over literally all of our lessons cancelled on us. After crying for a little bit we sucked it up and did some Facebook work. It actually went really good because we were able to make some awesome content for the zone page.
Thursday was a wild day for us. We didn't have anything really set up throughout the day because no one wanted to meet. We just made the most of it and sent a bunch of texts and talked to people on Facebook. At the end of the day we got together as a District and had Thanksgiving with all the missionaries. Our Bishop provided us all with food for the festivities so it was sweet!
Friday was a jam packed day for us. We had a ton of lessons with some members and new people we're teaching. Other than that it was another day on the mission.
Saturday was sweeeeeeet! In the morning we helped rake leaves over at a member's house. After that my main man Elder Horsley came down for a training visit and we spent the day together. We had a couple lessons and walked around Youngstown hoping people would talk to us. It was good to spend some time with him and talk about the memories we had.
Sunday was a really good day. We did training visits with the Elders in our apartment and I went with Elder Magleby. We had a hoot together running around all over the place. We had a couple lessons with people throughout the day that all went smoothly. At the end of the day we had some bomb French toast and called it a night.

Funny moment of the week:
So when they gave us those 30 boxes of KFC we decided to just drop them to random people walking and people we're teaching. It was pretty much an early Thanksgiving/Christmas and we had a blast doing it.

Miracle of the week:
Over this past week we have gotten so many incredible self referrals. They all have such a strong desire to grow closer to God and are genuinely interested in listening to our message. It's a miracle to me to have such amazing people to talk with!

Love,
Elder Bohn

Final Thoughts!

I love this gospel! I am so grateful for the honor and privilege it was to labor in the vineyard of the Lord. I know Christ lives, and I kno...
