Week 62: Presidential BBQ Runs

 

Hey everybody! Holy cow, this was one of the craziest, busiest, and funnest weeks I've had in a while! We had just back to back training visits all week long as well as interviews with President. It looks like there's a good chance of me getting transferred out and upgraded to the rank of Junior companion somewhere in the mission. I'm pretty excited for transfers next week, I'll be sad to leave Y-Town but it will buff.

Here's a quick run through of this week:

Monday we had a good ole time playing basketball with some other elders. At the end of the day President wanted us to go check out a BBQ restaurant to test it out to see how good it was. We went there and it wasn't half bad. Crazy expensive, but that's besides the point.

Tuesday we had a training visit with the Lisbon elders. I was with Elder Jones for the day and we had a good ole time! We did a whole lot of contacting and setting up lessons which is always a fun time.

Wednesday we had a training visit with the assistants which was an absolute hoot. I was with Elder Gardiner for the day. We had a couple really awesome lessons and contacted a whole bunch of people. At the end of the day President stayed the night at the hotel across the street and he took us all to a BBQ restaurant.

Thursday we went on a 3 mile run in the morning with President, after which I almost coughed up a lung. When we got back we had interviews and 3 district councils to join. All the councils were incredible and I learned a lot. I had an awesome interview with President and he said he's thinking about putting me somewhere else just as a normal missionary, but he doesn't know yet. I'm fine with whatever, I'm ready for things to relax. Afterwards nothing too crazy happened.

Friday we had another training visit, this time I was with Elder Prins. We had a pretty good day for the most part. We did our best to try and stay busy throughout the day. It was pretty funny because he would get distracted by everything and I'd have to refocus him every 5 minutes. Overall it was a lot of fun and we got some good work done.

Saturday we went on training visits with the Social Media Specialists and I was with Elder Washburn for the day. We had a really awesome time! We went and had some sweet lessons and went on got in contact with a lot of referrals we have. The day just flew by honestly, but that's just how it is sometimes.

Sunday we had a jam packed day for lessons and meetings so it was pretty awesome. Except for the fact that most everyone flaked on us. It's fine, jokes on them we just did more contacting and set up even MORE lessons. Other than that it was a pretty relaxed day.

Miracle of the week:

We have had crazy amounts of success contacting referrals so we've been having tons of lessons! It's been a ton of fun doing it as well so I'll count it all as a miracle!

Funny moment of the week:

We got bored at the end of the day on Tuesday and decided to tape Elder Yost's blanket to the ceiling. It was a fun time getting it up there. Next time we're going to tape the mattress somewhere. I don't know how it will work, but we'll give it a shot.

Week 61: Hype Training Visits

 

Hey everyone! This past week has been exhausting, which is always good. We went on 4 training visits and contacted A LOT of people! Elder Stirling is a stud and Youngstown is a blessed land!

Here's a quick run through of the week:

Monday was another average P day for me. We went shopping, played a ton of Elder's ball and called it a day.

Tuesday went on a training visit with the Warren elders. I was with Elder Deim for the day and we had an awesome time. We did some service and had a couple phone call lessons. We also went and cleaned an empty missionary apartment before they put a new set in there. Had a fun time with that, more will be mentioned in the funny moment of the week.

Wednesday we went on yet another training visit, this time with the Alliance Elders. I spent the day with Elder Hansen, he is a total stud! We had District Council with them in the morning which was super awesome. After that we did a whole bunch of contacting and set up a couple lessons for the next couple days. At the end of the day we had a couple lessons and called it good!

Thursday was surprise surprise, another training visit! This time we were with the social media specialists and I was with Elder Draper. We had a pretty exciting day doing service for a member and having a couple... interesting lessons. Other than that it was a fairly average day.

Friday we filmed a sweet hype video for the zone, and we had a couple lessons. It was a slower day to catch up on everything so it was sweet.

Saturday we went on a training visit with the Rootstown elders. I was with Elder Foster for the day and we had a good time. We had a lot of time to call some peeps and do Facebook work. We managed to get a couple lessons set up for them which was sweet. After that we had a District devotional and had a good time.

Sunday we went on one more training visit with the Spanish elders we live with. I was with Elder Sahagun for the day and we put in some good work. It was pretty slow because it was fast Sunday but we survived. We had a ton of super dope lessons and managed to start getting consistent lessons with some people that have dropped off the face of the earth.

Miracle of the week:

We've been able to set up more lessons with people we're teaching. It's pretty miraculous because NO ONE has been responding to us, so it's pretty awesome!

I ripped my pants, we had a lesson with a guy who pretty much whined about a girl leaving him, we made a sick hype video, and we have become addicted to puzzles. It's just fun times.
