Week 86: Straight Mobbin'!

Hey everyone! Truly this has been another week of my mission. We got a lot done with lessons and contacting. We were also able to meet some super awesome people just by going and visiting people that were previously taught. It's just nonstop good times in the blessed land of Scioto.

Here is a quick run through of this week:
Monday was of course elder's basketball and volleyball day. We straight up destroyed everyone in volleyball which is always pretty hype.
Tuesday was more or less just more lessons and calling people than anything else. We helped out at the food bank in the morning which is always a fun time. Today we ended up sorting frozen foods. I don't think I've ever thrown away so many frozen expired bagels in my whole life. After that we were able to have some really good lessons with people over the phone.
Wednesday we had district council in the morning and it went pretty good. We focused a lot on the spirit and how we can use it more in our teaching and in our lives. After that we had training visits with the Madison Lake elders and I was with the madman Elder Wayas. We did service for a lady near by them removing old wood and tree branches that were all covered in poison ivy. It was hype. We got it all cleaned up and Elder Wayas decapitated a snake. To end off the night we made a bunch of phone calls and played spikeball for dinner. It's just good times here!
Thursday was a pretty busy and chaotic day. We did a lot of door knocking and checking in on people which is always hype. We were able to get into contact with a guy that was formerly taught named Marlon. He has the strongest testimony I've heard and has a sound understanding of the gospel and wants to be baptized. The only thing is that he has some personal problems that he is trying to figure out before he goes anywhere. It was good that we got into contact with him and got things rolling again. Hopefully we'll be able to help him out any way that we can.
Friday we just did a whole bunch of contacting and not much else throughout most of the day. However, at the end of the day we went to campus to film a video we're making. We would ask people 3 questions, one was trivia, one was a trick question, and the last was a gospel question. We had a good ol' time and were able to talk with some pretty awesome people. To end off the night we got some pizza and went to this creepy tunnel covered in graffiti.
Saturday we seized the day and did a whole bunch of door knocking while everyone was at home. It was highly successful because a majority of it was stopping by some previously taught people who were excited to see us back.
Sunday was pretty hype, mainly because it went by super fast! Nah I'm joking! We were able to have a pretty awesome day overall meeting with members. We had some pretty good visits with people and texted a whole bunch of peeps at the end of the day. The zone leaders came over for a little bit to party, so it only adds to the good times.

Miracle of the week:
I think the biggest miracle so far has been getting back to normal pretty much in terms of knocking and street contacting. We have met so many awesome people that we otherwise wouldn't have been able to meet. So miracles are always out there!

Funny moment of the week:
I found out from shooting the video on OSU how much the Chewbacca costume from Star Wars weighs. I bet you're guessing like 20-30 lbs. Nah, it's only 8 lbs. I know, right?

Week 85: Moving Specialists!

Hey everyone! this past week we've been keeping pretty busy with helping people move in and out of their houses. It's been pretty hype not gonna lie. My back says otherwise, but it's all good.

Here is a quick run through of this week:
Monday we went to OSU with a couple other missionaries to play spikeball and volleyball. It was a way good time and we got to talk to a couple really awesome people. I almost burnt the soles of my feet on the lava sand, but that's okay.
Tuesday we were on training visits with the Greenfield elders. I was with Elder Styer for the day and we had a good time together. We had interviews with President in the morning and things went pretty well overall. We did a whole bunch of contacting at night and were able to have some good lessons with people that we haven't been able to get ahold of for a while.
Wednesday was a pretty wild day. In essence we did service from 9am until 7pm for a guy named Randy. More on that will be mentioned in the miracle of the week.
Thursday was a day filled with some more service. we helped do some yard work for a less active member in the ward with the Spanish missionaries. I got to mow the lawn, it was literally the hypest thing I've done in the past year! After that we went over to another members house and threw down some mulch in their flower beds for a little bit so it was hype. After that we did a bunch of contacting and were able to set up a bunch of lessons.
Friday was looking to be a slower day, but the Lord always provides for his boys! We got a text from a member saying that they needed help moving out of their house immediately. We get there and find out that they have to be completely moved out in about 5 hours and the house is a train wreck. We did the best we could with the time we had, but the house was still a mess by the time we left. It will buff though, probably, hopefully, maybe. After that we had our weekly planning session and made a huge list of people to reach out to and stop by this next week so it's going to be pretty hype.
Saturday we went and helped Randy organize all of the boxes we moved into his house. We were there for a little bit moving furniture, organizing boxes, folding moving blankets, etc. After that they took us out to lunch and I got some pretty bomb cinnamon roll pancakes. After that things slowed down and we did even more contacting and had a couple awesome lessons.
Sunday we had church in the morning which was really good. We had a couple really awesome talks given. After that we met with a couple members and had some very spiritual lessons with them.

Miracle of the week:
So we got a referral from a member on Wednesday. Her mom and dad were apparently moving here to Grove City and the movers bailed out on them when they dropped off the moving trailers. So elder Newberry and I were able to go and help them out with a couple other guys getting all the stuff moved into their house. They are non members named Randy and Marion and they now think that we are the best people in the world. They were super thankful for our help and invited us over for the 4th of July to meet their family. Service definitely works for touching people's hearts!

Funny moment of the week:
When we were taking the trash out today, some dude stopped us and asked if we were gay and single because he was ready to mingle. We told him nah and he sped off after that. Why is it that these are the only people that want to talk to us?

Week 84: On That Grind!

Hey everyone! Alright I'm going to keep this nice, short, and to the point. This week was pretty hype and we stayed way busy.

Here is a quick run through of this week:
Monday we played volleyball and spikeball at the church which is always a good time.
Tuesday we had zone conference outside which was way hype. We were in a park and got to hear the conversion stories of the Amish latter-day saints here in Ohio. It was an incredible experience that I won't soon forget.
Wednesday we helped out at a local food pantry and had a good ole time with that so its always hype. At the end of the day we got to meet with the young men and talk about mission experiences and stories.
Thursday was a grind for us. We were in splits with the OSU elders and I was with Elder Allen for the day. We got a lot of work done and we taught some awesome people.
Friday I spent the day with Elder Dittmar for splits. He is a total stud and a powerful teacher. We had a lot of lessons and got it done!
Saturday was more grinding and getting lessons and contacting in so not much to report.
Sunday was more or less the same as Saturday so we can't complain.

Miracle of the week:
We were able to get Belinda and Derek on an in-person church tour this week. They loved the place and we taught them about the sacrament and Jesus Christ in the chapel. We're hoping we can get them on the covenant path soon, but we'll see how things play out.

Funny moment of the week:
We played spikeball at the park with the Madison Lake elders in hopes that people would talk to us. We had a couple people say hi and ask who we were so it was a win. Some lady wanted to play with us but her friend wouldn't let her because we were Mormons. Sad day.

Love,
Elder Bohn

Week 83: Busy, Busy, Busy!

Hey everyone! As you read by the title, this has been a busy week for us, which is a good thing! We've done pretty much everything and anything this week so it has been pretty fun.

Here is a quick run through of this week:
Monday we balled up with all the boys and had a good time. Afterwards we got some Wendy's which just always makes everything 10x better!
Tuesday we got to go outside a little bit more which is always a good thing. After that we just had a couple visits with some people and we ended off the night with a bunch of contacting.
Wednesday we had district council in the morning which is always pretty hype. We focused a lot on the 9 Christlike attributes. When that was over we started our training visits with the Madison Lake elders. I was finally reunited with my man Elder Wayas! We had a way lit time that night when we met with the Eudaily family. We just had super fun conversations and had a great discussion with them and the spirit was very strong.
Thursday was a way awesome day. We spent all day at Belinda and Derek's doing service and discussing the gospel. It was hype.
Friday was a ton of fun for the most part. We went to the food bank in the morning and had a good time serving. I got to have a good time with the peeps at my table. After that we had a couple really good lessons with people we're teaching.
Saturday we were down in Greenfield on training visits. I was with Elder Thompson for the day and he is just a total goober. We talked to a bunch of pretty awesome people while we were there. We had a particularly spiritual lesson with a guy named Sam that they're teaching. It was pretty hype, not gonna lie.
Sunday was a really good day. We met with a bunch of super awesome members and had good discussions with all of them. We managed to meet with the Fields and share a lot of insights about feeling the spirit more in our lives.

Miracle of the week:
Over the past little bit we have had some very powerful lessons with a lot of people that we have been teaching. It is just super awesome to see the Lord's hand in inspiring the messages we share with people.

Funny moment of the week:
While we were at a lesson with a lady we're teaching, some door to door salesman knocked on the door. When he looked inside he saw us and his eyes went wide and his face went white with fear. He said that he'll come back some other time because he was a missionary a couple years ago so he gets the grind. It was pretty funny to have a former missionary knock on the door of a lady we were teaching while we were there.

Week 82: Marathon Man

Hey everyone! What a week this has been. There has been some interesting times to say the least. I'll just let the weekly explain everything.

Here's a quick run through of this week:
Wednesday we had our pday which is always lit. We played some more basketball and then celebrated with some Texas Roadhouse. It was sad saying goodbye to all the elders that were leaving, but it'll buff.
Thursday we went over to see Belinda and Derek again. We ended up helping paint their upstairs bathroom which was exciting. After that we cleaned some windows and read some scriptures. Before heading home we went over and got our second dose of the vaccine so yeah, that wiped me out. Oh well!
Friday we got a call from some elders saying they needed our help setting up for a marathon. So to make a long story short; in a town here called London, they decided to hold a marathon there. Our mission President wanted to run in the marathon so he had the missionaries help out with it. So Friday us and 2 other sets of elders got the supplies ready to go for about 7 hours. It suuucked. But it wasn't the worst thing in the world.
Saturday was the day of the race. We got there at 5:45am along with 80 other missionaries to get things going. The missionaries were in charge of the aid stations where they give water and Gatorade. It was pretty hype! President ended up running all 26.2 miles in about 4 hours so he is kind of a madman. To end off the day we just called some people and got some Waffle house with some other elders.
Sunday we had church in person which is always a blast. After that we had a couple lessons with some members that went pretty sweet. At the end of the day I just went ham and cleaned our kitchen and living room. So that's hype.

Miracle of the week:
The mission was able to experience some awesome miracles from the marathon. We were able to meet and talk to so many new people while doing the marathon. The people down there have a more positive outlook on missionaries now!

Funny moment of the week:
When President was on the last 6 miles of the run elder Brady and I decided to run it with him to give him some support. I don't know how I lived, but I did it. It was a ton of fun running with him and getting to know him more!

Elder Bohn

Week 81: Mission Tour!

Hey everyone! An thus concludes another extended week of missionary life before a p day. We are having transfers coming up and it looks like Elder Newberry and I are staying here for another 6 weeks! We're both pretty pumped so that's way lit! Other than that, we had an exciting week of meetings and lessons.

Here is a quick run through of this week:
Monday was just the same as any other Monday. Basketball and good times!
Tuesday was the beginning of our mission tour with Elder Bassett. We had in person meetings all throughout the day with him and the zone. We talked about a lot of different cool things that were pretty hype. After that we had a couple lessons that went pretty well and ended off the day with more contacting.
Wednesday we had more mission tour stuff which was again, exciting. After that we had a couple super awesome lessons with some people that we are teaching. One of them is Ashley and we taught her a lot about the Plan of Salvation and she took a bunch of notes and actually taught it back to us pretty well! It was sick! After that we met with my nana Sharon. We helped do some service for her by helping in her garden which went pretty well.
Thursday We had a pretty fun day of sanding, staining, and prepping trim and baseboards over at Belinda and Derek's. It was pretty sweet overall, it wasn't the funnest or most exciting thing to do, but it is what it is.
Friday we had training visits with the Greenfield elders and I was with Elder Styer for the day. We had a pretty good time overall keeping busy with everything. We went to the foodbank together and stopped by to see one of my favorite people named Sandra. After that we got some shakes and called it a day.
Saturday we were on training visits with the OSU elders and I was with Elder Hibbard for the day. It was good to be back together like good old times with the man himself. We stopped by a couple people and had a good time and then we went over to Belinda and Derek's to have a lesson. We ended up teaching them for a couple hours about the Holy Ghost and priesthood authority. It was pretty hype not gonna lie.
Sunday we had church and a couple lessons with some members that went pretty well. But to end off the night, we had a total blast. We got together with the Spanish elders and made some mac and cheese. Not just any mac and cheese. But mac and cheese with 8 different kinds of mac and cheese. It was deliciously disgusting, but it was a blast to make!
Monday was a pretty slow day overall. We did make a pretty sweet video though. At the end of the day we went over to a member's house and got to have a good time with them for a while so it was pretty hype.
Tuesday we were back at Belinda and Derek's helping out putting up some drywall. There is literally no bounds to our service. After that we met again with our nana Sharon and had a discussion with her and her daughter Sheri. At the end of the lesson they asked if we could dedicate their home and so we did. After that we ended up giving Sharon a blessing because she has been struggling for the past week. At the end of the day the OSU elders came down and we got some pizza and celebrated as we waited for the transfer board to come out.

Miracle of the week:
Belinda believes that the Book of Mormon is the word of God! Hallelujah!

Funny moment of the week:
Just watch the video we made on Monday. It's pretty hype not gonna lie.

Love,
Elder Bohn

Final Thoughts!

I love this gospel! I am so grateful for the honor and privilege it was to labor in the vineyard of the Lord. I know Christ lives, and I kno...
