Week 73: Interviews and the Zoo!

Hey everyone! This has been a very busy and chaotic week to say the very least. That's what I say about every week at this point, but oh well. It was an adventure to be sure! I haven't been able to call for a couple weeks so mom asked if I was still alive. I sent her a very appropriate meme.

Here is a quick run through of this week:
Monday we went to the zoo for our activity, it was pretty lit. I was a little heart broken that I didn't see any orangutans or giraffes, but that's just how it be. After that we went and played some basketball and called it a night.
Tuesday we had interviews and district council with our zone. It is a good ole time sitting in 4 district councils listening to missionaries lecture for about 8 hours. Other than that we had a pretty awesome lesson with a guy we're teaching so it was pretty sick!
Wednesday we had a training visit with the Greenfield elders. I was with Elder Jones for the day and we had an awesome time together. We had a couple really good lessons that went through, so it was awesome. At the end of the day we had a super good discussion and had a really good connecting session which was very needed. And that about wrapped up the day.
Thursday we had another training visit, this time with the OSU 2 elders. I was with Elder Harris for his last day before he flew out the next morning. To sum it up, we had a super awesome day filled with contacting, lessons, and talking to random peeps on OSU. At the end of the night we celebrated with Buffalo Wild Wings, so it was quite a win.
Friday we had to go drop off Elder Harris at the airport at 4am which was just the worst. I was just perpetually exhausted the entire day which is always fun. We had some super awesome lessons throughout the day and we fell asleep pretty quickly that night!
Saturday we had another super awesome lesson with Belinda and Derrick. We got to know them some more and build an even stronger connection. We are hoping to be able to put them on date for baptism soon though. They are such an incredible couple that have a very strong testimony. After that we ended off the night with ward volleyball.
Sunday was just stacked with church and various meetings. We had stake conference in the morning followed by ward coordination at 1pm. Then we had our other YSA ward at 2pm. Needless to say we were fairly exhausted after those meetings and a couple lessons. We had a pretty good day overall though!

Miracle of the week:
When I was with Elder Harris we were stopping by member's apartments after no success calling them. No one answered all evening so it was pretty depressing. We were hoping for a super awesome miracle to end off the night, and the Lord delivered. The last door answered and she asked us if we could just sit outside and talk for a little bit. We ended up having a pretty awesome lesson and discussion with her. It is just a good time to see the fruits of your efforts.

Funny moment of the week:
One of the elders in our district has a weird habit of reading scriptures in a very intense and obnoxious narrator voice. He started reading a verse in this voice and I lost it. I was just goofin' the whole time. You just had to be there.

Love,
Elder Bohn

Week 72: Training Visits Galor

Hey everybody!  This has been a pretty chaotic week for us honestly. It was another training visit filled week with fun adventures. Overall, things have been going pretty good!

Here's a quick run through of the week:
Monday was pretty lit not gonna lie. We went bowling as a District and had a pretty good time!
Tuesday we had zone conference which was incredible! The spirit was definitely strong and I learned a lot from all of the trainings. Afterwards we had a couple lessons and called it a night.
Wednesday we had training visits with the Hilliard elders. I was with Elder Monroe for the day, and we had a pretty awesome time. We did a lot of contacting throughout the day and had a sweet lesson to end off the day. In between we went and threw a frisbee on campus and hoped some people would start talking to us. No one did though, sad day.
Thursday we went on training visits with the Scioto elders. I was with Elder Jeppesen for the day and we had a good time. We went over to the food bank and organized and cleaned donated supplies. It was disgusting to say the least, but it's whatever. After that we did a whole bunch of contacting for members and people we're teaching.
Friday was a more layed back kind of a day. We had a bunch of lessons throughout the day and we somehow survived our weekly planning session. Other than that it was a pretty good day!
Saturday we went on training visits with the Greenfield elders. I spent the day with Elder Jones. We ended up getting 10 lessons that day which was wild! We met some pretty awesome people and it was a very productive day.
Sunday was wild from the beginning to the end. It mainly consisted of us running from one ward to the other and from one meeting to the other. Nothing too eventful happened, but it was still a pretty good day!

Miracle of the week:
We got an awesome referral this week who is super prepared for the gospel. He is currently meeting with one set of elders in Newark and we'll start teaching him eventually so we are super excited for that!

Funny moment of the week:
We did another hype video challenge with 3 companionships and all I can say is that we were not disappointed. Give them a watch!

Elder Bohn

Week 71: 1000 Bales of Hay

Hey everyone! This has been one of the crazier weeks of my mission. We have pretty much been running around like a bunch of chickens with our heads chopped off trying to keep up with everything. We did some fun service and have gone on a lot of training visits so far, and this is only the beginning of the madness. Oh well, that's just the life of a missionary.

Here's a quick run through of this week:
Monday we had our p day which consisted of contacting in the morning and an all out party with some other elders. We went and played spikeball over on OSU and had a good time. We ended up talking to a couple pretty cool guys!
Tuesday we had MLC in the morning which went for about 4 hours. We had some awesome discussions and set goals for key indicators (number of people baptized, at church, and lessons taught, etc.) for each of our zones. After that we had a couple lessons with members that went pretty good.
Wednesday we had district council followed by training visits with the Spanish elders. I was with Elder Moore for the day and we ended up just having a ton of English classes and did a bunch of contacting for the day. We ended the night off right with a whole lot of Taco bell!
Thursday we had training visits with the Riverside elders. I got to spend the day with THE Elder Thomason, my MTC companion. We had one of the most incredible training visits of my mission together. We had super awesome lessons and conversations with people and we had a really good talk with each other and about how we both were doing. All in all, my love for him has strengthened so much more, and he will forever be one of my favorite companions!
Friday was just another average day overall. We did our weekly planning and had a couple lessons throughout the day. Good times!
Saturday was a very very wild day. We were on training visits in Scioto and I was with Elder Jeppesen for the day. We went down to a food pantry and did some service there for a little bit then went and did some baptismal interviews with a family a set of elders has on date for baptism. Then to top it all off we did a service project for Belinda and Derrick which was just a ton of fun. More on that service will be mentioned in the funny moment of the week. After the service we went over to their house and talked with them and had a super awesome miracle of the week (more will be mentioned there). This was a completely exhausting day, but it was super awesome!
Sunday was one of the busiest Sundays of my mission. We had church in the morning followed by a lesson with a member, then followed by even more church. We ran around and had church and lessons from pretty much 9AM to about 5PM. I'm starting to feel like someone in the Bishopric, cough cough. After that we ended off the night with some contacting and studies because we couldn't do them in the morning. Good times!

Funny moment of the week:
To sum it all up, Belinda and Derrick have a neighbor whose barn collapsed on their stacks of hay and they needed help moving it. So we got President and Sister Horgesheimer and about 14 other missionaries to tag along and help out. We ended up moving around 1,000 bales of hay from one barn to another in a couple hours. We were completely exhausted, but it was exciting to feel like a country boy and not some city slicker. I hope that Grandma Julia is proud of me! (This is a somewhat rare occasion so don't get too excited).

Miracle of the week:
After the service me and a couple other missionaries sat down with Belinda and Derrick and President and read through the Restoration Proclamation together. The spirit there was very strong and they shared with us very incredible experiences they've had with investigating our church. They have a couple questions that they want to talk about, but it was incredible to show our love for them through service and to feel our bond strengthen!

Love,
Elder Bohn

Week 70: Transfers and Tasers

Hey everybody! We had transfers this past week and it looks like I'll be staying here on OSU for another 6 weeks. Elder Wayas however, will not be. I'm pumped for my new companion Elder Hibbard though! We served near each other in Cleveland and in Youngstown so it's pretty sweet.

Here is a quick run through of this week:
Wednesday we had a pretty good p day. We went to top golf with President and a couple other zone leaders which was pretty dang fun. I realized that I kinda suck at golf though, so it was kind of awkward. Oh well though!
Thursday was the day of transfers and it went pretty smoothly all things considered. It took forever to get people out of there and we had to jump start a couple cars. After that Elder Hibbard and I had a couple lessons and called it a day.
Friday we had a crazy busy day full of adventures and lessons. We drove all over the place and talked to a lot of super awesome members. At the end of the day we went and walked around OSU and had some sweet miracles! More will be mentioned in the miracle of the week.
Saturday we just kind of had an average missionary day. We had a couple lessons throughout the day and did some contacting. Other than that nothing else really happened.
Sunday we had a pretty awesome day. We had church in the morning, stake conference right after for the other ward, then a couple more meetings throughout the day. We ended off the night with President Ballard's devotional which was sweet! It was a crazy busy, but also a crazy fun Sunday!

Funny moment of the week:
We gave a porta potty to another set of missionaries as a joke. It's the kind where it looks like a walker with a toilet seat in the middle. I will provide pictures of it next week! Their reaction was pretty funny. Also Elder Wayas got tased at transfers. Go watch the video.

Miracle of the week:
When we were walking on campus Friday we got stopped by like 3 members and talked to them for a little bit. One of them was way less active and we are planning on calling him sometime to meet with him.

Love,
Elder Bohn

Week 69: Training Visits x 6

Hey everybody! This has definitely been an exciting week for me. We had a whole lot of training visits pretty much like everyday which is exhausting, but fun. Also we are at the end of the transfer. I am getting a new comp Elder Hibbard. I'm pretty dang excited for this next transfer. We have a lot of really awesome Elders in our zone! Also this weekly will only be the main things that happened each day.

Here's a quick run through of the week:
Monday we had our District activity which mainly involved us partying at the institute building. After that we went and played cards and basketball with some other Elders.
Tuesday we went on training visits with Madison lake elders which was awesome. We did service and had a couple member lessons. Elder Schwebach told funny stories from when he was in the Barbados all day so it was fun.
Wednesday we had training visits with the Spanish elders. In the morning we had an awesome district council and after that we had a bunch of sweet lessons and walked around Campus.
Thursday we had training visits with the Riverside elders. Nothing too crazy happened, just the same stuff. Had a lot of good laughs with our comp studies.
Friday we had training visits with the Scioto elders. We had a very productive day with a lot of contacting and a lot of lessons. At the end of the day Elder Guzman and I had a really good discussion about missionary work. After that we called it a day.
Saturday we had the last training visit of the transfer with the Hilliard elders. I was with elder Allen and we had an awesome day. We had a bunch of lessons and we made a video together. One fun part was that a member wanted us to help them put in some carpet, but we ended up just watching them because they said that they were about done over and over for about 30 minutes and didn't let us do anything. Yeah, fun times!
Sunday we had in person church and a bunch of meetings and contacting. Pretty fun though, not gonna lie. We also finished filming our District video with Elder Rowley.
Monday we spent most of the day contacting and editing our video we filmed. Other than that we had a couple lessons.
Tuesday was more or less the same as Monday. We got the PBZ and I'm staying, but I'm getting Elder Hibbard as my new comp! Elder Wayas also deceived the whole mission pretending he was the new Assistant, so that was fun!

Miracle of the week:
We had a guy named Caleb finally reach back out to us and he seemed way interested in meeting with us. He apparently was in jail for 3 weeks and that's why he never called or texted back. It's just nonstop good times!

Funny moment of the week:
We made a pretty awesome montage from the past transfer with videos that other missionaries have sent in. Give it a watch, it's pretty sweet!

Love,
Elder Bohn

Final Thoughts!

I love this gospel! I am so grateful for the honor and privilege it was to labor in the vineyard of the Lord. I know Christ lives, and I kno...
