Week 77: Lemon Pizza and My Friend Jesus!

Hey everybody! This has been a crazy busy week for us to say the least. We've had a good time though! We've gotten to know more people in the ward and people that the other missionaries are teaching.

Here's a quick run through of this week:
Monday was a pretty fun p day. We played a lot of basketball and did some shopping so it was lit.
Tuesday was a whole lot of contacting and cancelled lessons. It was all good, we made up for it and got some fresh air and went for a walk.
Wednesday we had District council which went pretty good. The only problem was that it snowed like 5 inches. In April. Literally what is Ohio? Anyways we had training visits with the Greenfield elders and I was with Elder Styer for the day. We had some fun lessons and had a good conversation at the end of the day.
Thursday we met with a whole bunch of people which was pretty sweet. We got to know some members more and a couple people we've been teaching.
Friday was a rough day. All our lessons fell through so it was a day of improvising. We ended up just calling a lot of people and getting outside. Overall it wasn't too bad, we just made the most out of nothing.
Saturday we had training visits with the zone leaders and I was with Elder Allen for the day. We ended up going and talking to Belinda and Derrick for a while. We stained some trim and baseboards for them which went pretty good. We also had an awesome discussion about the Plan of Salvation. Overall it was just an awesome day!
Sunday in person church was cancelled so that sucked. We had a couple way awesome member visits which brightened our day. One of the members gave us pizza to go. It was lemon pizza. Lemon pizza. It was pretty, interesting, to say the least.

Miracle of the week:
We managed to set up 3 lessons in a row with people we've been trying to reach out to so it was incredible. The fruit of our labors is finally coming!

Funny moment of the week:
We made a video with a couple other Elders with the song, "Jesus is a Friend of Mine". Watch it. It's lit.

Elder Bohn

Week 76: New Trainee and New Area!

Hey everyone! This has been a busy and exhausting week to say the least. I'm with my new companion Elder Newberry. He is coming here from Washington and he's here to stay! We've just been grinding getting adjusted to the new area and getting to know the people we'll be working with!

Here's a quick run through of the week:
Wednesday was my last p day on OSU. It was a pretty sad day because I loved this area. We got some shopping done, and then we went and chilled for most of the day while I packed.
Thursday was the day of transfers. There was a little hiccup in the plans because there was a plane issue with the 2 missionaries coming from Washington. They ended up missing their flight on Wednesday and had to fly out a day later on  Thursday. We were in the train the trainer meeting and President said that everything was good to go, except for my trainee wasn't there yet. So we had to run over to the airport at 6pm to pick them up. After meetings and long drives we finally made it back to our apartment at like 10pm. We unpacked all of our stuff and immediately passed out.
Friday was a pretty good day for us overall. We just spent a lot of time contacting and trying to set up lessons to meet with people. We talked to a lot of cool people so it was pretty awesome!
Saturday was more or less the same as yesterday. We went on a walk around a park and tried to talk with some people. After that we had a lesson with Belinda and Derrick that went super awesome. We talked about the beginning of the Plan of Salvation with them and they had a lot of questions. After that we helped feed their cows and we pulled weeds in their garden. It was a good ole time!
Sunday we had in person church and it went pretty good. We tried our best to introduce ourselves to the members and a lot were very friendly. Some didn't seem as enthusiastic about us being there, but it's all good! After that we did a whole lot more contacting to set up more lessons. That's pretty much what a lot of the next while will be like: calling, texting, and more calling.

Miracle of the week:
When we were meeting with Belinda and Derrick we could see the gears turning in their heads as we read the scriptures to support the things we were teaching. It's awesome to see the spirit working on them one visit at a time!

Funny moment of the week:
We have an... interesting lady in the ward that calls us almost everyday. She just talks about the most random topics with us whenever we talk. The first conversation we had with her she was introducing herself and then just stopped and said, "do y'all like cottage cheese?". We just busted up laughing by the rather unexpected question. It's just nonstop good times here.

Love,
Elder Bohn

Week 75: Scary Transfers!

Hey everyone! Well, this is transfer week for the mission which is always exciting. It looks like I'll be getting transferred down to Scioto so that's lit. I'm a little nervous because I'll be doubling in and training as well. It's just going to be nonstop good times though!

Here's a quick run through of the week:
Monday we went and did top golf again with President and a couple other elders which was sweet. After that we didn't have too much going on.
Tuesday was a pretty crazy day for the most part. We had a couple lessons fall through which is always a bad time. It's all good because we had a 2 hour long bash session with a girl named Lia we're teaching. It's just fun times with her and the Trinity.
Wednesday we had District Council which was sweet. Afterwards we filmed our District video which was pretty fun for behind the scenes. After that we had a lesson with Belinda and Derrick which went smoothly. We painted in their basement for a little bit and then taught them the Plan of Salvation. They always just eat up and think deeply about everything we teach. They are such an awesome couple!
Thursday we had training visits with the Scioto Elders. I was with Elder Wallentine for the day and we had a good ole time. We were able to get in some good contacting and had a couple really awesome lessons. Elder Wallentine is easily one of my favorite elders out here!
Friday was a total hoot! I got to spend it on training visits with Elder Horsely for the day. We had a good time reliving the good times back in Canal a year and a half ago. We were able to have a couple awesome lessons with some people that they're teaching. It was just a good ole time!
Saturday we had a pretty awesome miracle happen for us and another set of elders. More will be mentioned down below. Other than that, we had a fairly average day of lessons cancelling and us making up for it by eating food and calling people. To end off the night we went and played some volleyball with the ward.
Sunday was another jam packed day for us. We went to church, ward council, and more church. It's all good though, we were able to set up a couple lessons with some members we've been wanting to get ahold of. Also I taught a member's younger brother a couple weeks ago and I left him with an invitation. As an incentive to keep it I promised him a Twix bar. I finally was able to get it to him so it was pretty sweet. William is a homie!
Monday was a pretty normal day for us. We were just vibing for the most part. We had a couple awesome lessons and yet another bash session. After confounding her again with scriptures she said that she wouldn't read the scriptures and she doesn't feel like our church is "it". We just bore our testimonies and left it at that. Get wrecked!
Tuesday was pretty busy for us. We had 6 lessons throughout the day so we were always doing something to keep us busy while we waited in anticipation for the transfer board to come out. At the end of the night we got some pizza with some elders in our District and had a good time. Then it came. The PBZ. It revealed that I'll be leaving OSU to go to Scioto to train some poor unfortunate greenie.

Miracle of the week:
There was a referral we got named Nate a month ago and he was way awesome. He's YSA aged, but he lives an hour away so we referred him over to another set of elders. He just got baptized on Saturday so it was an incredible experience to be there with him for that event. Miracles are everywhere!

Funny moment of the week:
I got pit vipers. Get hyped, I'm living in the future now baby!

Love,
Elder Bohn

Week 74: Bunnies, Boonies, and Blood Drives

Hey everyone! It has been yet another crazy busy week for us here on OSU. We've gotten a lot of things done and I'm not quite sure how we're alive. Oh well, it'll buff!

Here's a quick run through of the week:
Monday we did a bunch of shopping. I bought a fanny pack. It's lit. After that we played some volleyball and basketball. Even more lit.
Tuesday we were with the assistants on training visits. I was with Elder Muhlestein for the day and we had a good ole time! We had a lot of lessons go through and we did a ton of contacting throughout the day. We ended it off with some good ole Wendy's!
Wednesday we were with the Madison Lake elders. I spent the day with Elder Schwebach and we had a good time. We filmed a video for Easter with them and it was... interesting to say the least. Other than that, I doused the underside of a house in bleach and made a make shift chlorine bomb. It was pretty fun.
Thursday we were with the Marble Cliff elders for the day. I was with Elder Curtis and we had a good ole time. We worked hard. We had a couple lessons that went smoothly, and I also gave blood! It was unexpected, but pretty awesome!
Friday we were with the Riverside elders for the day. I was with Elder Clarke and we had a sweet day! We had a couple pretty fun lessons and we did a lot of contacting and Facebook work. It was honestly a really good day!
Saturday we had a super awesome day! We were pretty much at Belinda and Derrick's house all day watching Conference, teaching, and painting. It was exhausting, but it was definitely  worth while. More will be mentioned in the miracle of the week.
Sunday was exciting! We watched General Conference at the institute building with the other missionaries and had a good time. I definitely got a lot out of conference this weekend. After conference we had a lesson and went home and finished off the night. It's just nonstop good times!

Miracle of the week:
While teaching Belinda and Derrick, Belinda started asking what it would take to become a member and what the process would be. She is definitely thinking about everything we're teaching and she's getting close to wanting to be baptized. It's incredible to see the progress they're making in the gospel!

Funny moment of the week:
All the videos I'm sending in will constitute the funny moment of the week. Also we fed donkeys!

Love,
Elder Bohn

Final Thoughts!

I love this gospel! I am so grateful for the honor and privilege it was to labor in the vineyard of the Lord. I know Christ lives, and I kno...
